Just 6 miles from downtown Gatlinburg, TN the Barber Cabin is located in Pittman Center. In 2000 this community was listed as one of 12 "Distinctive Destinations" in the U.S. by Southern Living, and as a bordertown to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park the town's motto is "a community dedicated to its mountain heritage." The river that flows through the valley has often been considered the cleanest river in the state and is excellent for tubing, swimming and fishing. The average water temperature in the summer months is usually between 68 and 72 degrees.
